About The Metabolism Journal

The Metabolism Journal covers metabolism, weight, digestion, and midlife health for a general audience. We write for people who have read a great deal of contradictory advice and would like something they can actually check.

What we try to do

Most health writing aimed at this subject falls into one of two failures. It is either so cautious that it says nothing usable, or so confident that it promises outcomes nobody can guarantee.

We aim for a third thing: explaining mechanisms plainly, distinguishing what is well understood from what is not, and being explicit when the honest answer is that it depends on the person.

What we do not do

Who writes here

Articles are written by our editorial staff. Bylines identify the writer within our team. We do not present our writers as physicians, dietitians, or researchers, and we do not attach clinical credentials to bylines — if an article requires that kind of authority to be trustworthy, it is not an article we should be publishing.

Corrections

If you believe something here is wrong, write to us and say what and why. Corrections are made on the page itself. See Editorial Policy for how we handle them.

The Metabolism Journal publishes general health information for a lay audience. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for talking to your own doctor about your own body.
